No. A lock controls access to the app interface. Storage, backups and exports are separate paths that need separate checks.

Compare where progress-photo apps keep your pictures
A lock screen, a local library and a cloud backup answer different privacy questions. Compare the route each image takes before you commit a photo history.
Compare the actual decision

| Product and region | Original / backup | Analysis or sharing path | Deletion and export check |
|---|---|---|---|
| Metamorph · Ghana iPhone listing | Developer says device or iCloud; iCloud may sync across devices. | GIF/video sharing creates an exported copy. | Photo deletion appears in version notes. Verify app, iCloud and recipient copies separately. |
| Photo Progress: Before - After · Google Play English listing | Developer describes a password-protected image library and gallery/Drive imports. Storage and backup location are not established by that claim. | Developer advertises comparison export and sharing. | Test app delete, imported original and destination copy separately; listing does not establish full erasure. |
| LeanLens · web and iPhone | Photo-analysis workflow sends an image for processing; do not treat it as an offline gallery. | An exported or shared result has its own destination. | Read the current policy and test account/result deletion for the exact surface you use. |
Source review: 23 September 2026. A store privacy label and developer copy are disclosures, not a technical audit. “Not established” is not a finding that a feature is absent.
Trace one photo from capture to deletion
Ask five separate questions: where the original lives, whether it syncs through a device backup, whether analysis uploads a copy, how a shared export leaves the app, and what deletion removes. A vendor’s “private” label does not answer all five.
- On a test image, check whether capture creates a copy in the system gallery as well as the app.
- Switch off cloud backup on a spare account or inspect the relevant device backup setting before assuming storage is local.
- Export one comparison and check whether its destination keeps another copy.
- Delete the test image and inspect the app library, gallery, recently deleted folder and cloud backup separately.
Make the next choice useful
Start with the output you will actually use, then check the current plan, device and data terms before uploading personal photos. Vendor descriptions below are dated public claims; we did not test every app or rank measurement accuracy.
Common questions
Usually not. Review the gallery, backup and every destination to which you exported or shared it.
